Selmer Groups and Quadratic Reciprocity
In this article we study the 2-Selmer groups of number fields F as well as some related groups, and present connections to the quadratic reciprocity law in F . Let F be a number field; elements in F× that are ideal squares were called singular numbers in the classical literature. They were studied in connection with explicit reciprocity laws, the construction of class fields, or the solution of...
متن کاملOn explicit reciprocity law over formal groups
Let F be a one-dimensional Lubin-Tate formal group over Z p. Colmez (1998) and Perrin-Riou (1994) proved an explicit reciprocity law for tempered distributions over the formal group G m. In this paper, the general explicit reciprocity law over the formal group F is proved. 1. Formal groups. In this section, we review some basic facts on formal groups. De Shalit [3, Chapter I] is the source for ...
متن کاملExplicit Reciprocity Law for Lubin-tate Groups
Let K be an imaginary quadratic field of class number 1 and let E be an elliptic curve over K with complex multiplication in the ring of integers OK of K. Let ψ be the Grössencharacter of K associated to E and let p be an odd prime over which E has good reduction. In [Kato93], K. Kato defined the zeta element which is, roughly speaking, a compatible system in the Galois cohomology of abelian ex...
متن کاملThe evolution of reciprocity in sizable human groups.
The scale and complexity of human cooperation is an important and unresolved evolutionary puzzle. This article uses the finitely repeated n person Prisoners' Dilemma game to illustrate how sapience can greatly enhance group-selection effects and lead to the evolutionary stability of cooperation in large groups. This affords a simple and direct explanation of the human "exception".
متن کاملReciprocity in groups: Information-seeking in a public goods game
Questions remain about the details of the reciprocal strategies people use in the context of group cooperation. Here we report an experiment in which participants in public goods games could access information about the lowest, median, or highest contribution to the public good before making their own contribution decisions. Results suggest that people have clear preferences for particular piec...
